Thursday, October 15 – SONiC Boom! Cultivate
The opening concert of SONiC Festival featured music by young composers from Copland House’s annual CULTIVATE fellowship program. The pieces the audience most wanted to hear again were Viet Cuong’s Wax and Wire; Michael Gilbertson’s Low-Hanging Fruit; Gity Razaz’s A Prayer for the Abandoned; and Steven Snowden’s Steam Man of the Prairies. Friday, October 16 – ACO: New York Stories
Angélica Negrón – Me He Perdido
Our winner Angelica Negron received the world premiere of her piece Me He Perdido by the American Composers Orchestra at the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place, part of ACO’s “New York Stories” program. Angelica collaborated with robotic-instrument builder Nick Yulman, placing mechanical percussion instruments throughout the audience.
