American Composers Orchestra presents Improvise!,
a festival exploring improvisation and the orchestra
The festival takes place at Carnegie Hall, Joe’s Pub at The Public Theater, and in venues around New York City from April 24 – May 1, 2004. Improvise!is devoted to exploring improvisation in orchestral music in all its conceptual and stylistic diversity, including jazz, graphic notation, technological innovation, collective improvisation, world music and other influences.
Composers Anthony Davis and Alvin Singleton serve as Music Alive Composers-in-Residence and artistic advisors for Improvise! A diverse delegation of artists, ensembles and visiting composers will participate in an array of concerts, symposia and educational activities.
