Composer Anna Clyne will be the featured Composers OutFront! artist on June 20 at 7:30pm at Gallerie Icosahedron in Tribeca.
Hot on the heels of her recent “UNsafe” premiere of TENDER HOOKS with ACO, Anna Clyne will be featured in the final installment of the season’s Composers OutFront! satellite events. Featuring new and recent music by Anna with live remixes by 2s & 4s (Matt Parker, Julio Monterrey), 3D visuals by Joshue Ott/superDraw, and choreography by Flexicurve(Pascal Rekoert, Stephanie Tack).
Also performing are musicians Isabel Castellvi, Olivia de Prato, Elena Moon Park, Victor Lowrie, Nicole Camacho, Christhian Rodriguez, Kathleen Supove and Taylor Levine.
ACO’s Composers OutFront! series puts composers on stage and makes connections between their musical roots as performers and their works for the concert hall. By featuring a variety of diverse musical creators — with interests ranging from jazz and improvised music to rock and pop and various world music influences — the series introduces an eclectic array of contemporary musicians to new audiences, extends the network of composers with whom the orchestra collaborates, provides connections with the concerts ACO gives at Carnegie Hall, and establishes a deeper context for audiences to understand the artists’ work.

Anna Clyne, composer
London-born Anna Clyne is a composer of acoustic and electro-acoustic music. Her work, which includes collaborative projects with cutting-edge choreographers, filmmakers, visual artists and musicians, has been commissioned and performed throughout the U.S. and internationally. Recent honors include commissions from Carnegie Hall, Los Angeles Philharmonic, Roulette/Jerome Foundation, awards from ASCAP and SEAMUS, performances by the American Composers Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra, and a residency with the Los Angeles-based Hysterica Dance Company. She holds a first-class Bachelor of Music degree with honors from Edinburgh University and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan School of Music. She currently resides in New York.
Joshue Ott, superDraw
New York-based multidisciplinary artist Joshue Ott creates cinematic visual improvisations, often performed live and projected in large scale. Working from hand-drawn forms, which he then manipulates with superDraw, a software instrument of his own design, Ott composes evolving images that reside somewhere between minimalism, psychedelia, and Cagean chance. Ott’s work has recently been featured in ACO’s “UNsafe” concert as part of Anna Clyne’s TENDER HOOKS, exhibitions at Paris’s Le Cube, the Playgrounds Audiovisual Art Festival in the Netherlands in 2007, and the 2006 Ars Electronica Animation Festival. He has performed at Live Cinema Nights: Silver Lake Film Festival, in Los Angeles; as part of the Boston Cyber Arts Festival; and at venues throughout New York City.
Julio Monterrey, saxophone
Julio Monterrey was born in Managua, Nicaragua but left at a young age with his parents and went to Miami, FL in search of political asylum and the American Dream. At the age of 15 he was introduced to the magic of song. Something drew Julio to the saxophone, which has become the fountain of his inspiration. Jazz came soon after where he immersed himself in the classic recordings of Charlie Parker, John Coltrane, Louis Armstrong and many others. While attending Florida International University, Gary Campbell and Mike Ortta were great influences in his musical beginnings. At this time Julio was also experimenting with his own acid jazz group, winning several local polls. In 1999 Julio was admired by the New School. A year later he found himself drawn back to his boyhood home of Miami where he has written and sold many highly acclaimed original compositions to a local record label. Julio is a lover of many styles of music and is always in search of fresh ideas.
Matt Parker, saxophone
Matt Parker was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, FL, where he picked up his first saxophone at the youthful age of 14. After graduating high school, Matt found himself in New York City – that sleepless American metropolis, wherein he could finally devote his practice to a unique collection of resources, energy, and culture. In this fertile yet chaotic arena, he acquired a degree in jazz performance from the New School. Matt has since played with artists such as David O’ Rourke, Junior Mance, Phil Woods, and Reggie Workman to name a few. He carries a sundry pallet of both bold and delicate tones, which compliment a powerful yet warm presence on the stage. Matt is currently composing and recording original music for a variety of artistic venues, ranging from film to dance.
Pascal Rekoert
Pascal Rekoert, artistic director of Flexicurve, is a native of Gouda, Netherlands, and trained at the Rotterdam Dance Academy and the High School of the Performing Arts, Amsterdam. In Europe he danced with Dancetheatre Arena, working with choreographers Suzy Blok, Christopher Steel, Conny Janssen, Thierry Smits & Kim van der Boon, Foundation Satori (Netherlands); Compagnie THOR (Belgium), Tempo Dances (GB), and Bronkhorst & Jongewaard (Netherlands). In 1998 he performed in The Fall, a piece which garnered acclaim as “the dance document of the 90’s,” receiving the coveted Prix du Bonheur du Rue St. Denis in Paris, France.
br As a choreographer Mr. Rekoert has presented his own work in theaters in Great Britain, Germany, former Yugoslavia, Poland, Belgium, the Netherlands, United States, Canada & Mexico. He created the piece “Erasmus Spitzen, Crossing a Bridge on Points,” which premiered at the International Rotterdam Film Festival and is currently part of various northern Europe art video collections and museums.
Stephanie Tack, dancer
Stephanie Tack received a BFA in Dance from the University of California at Santa Barbara. As a dancer she has performed with artists such as Jennifer Muller, Roseanne Spradlin, Daria Fain, Jane Comfort, Kitty McNamee, Erica Essner, Peter Sciscioli, and Chase Granoff. As a choreographer she has shown her work at venues including: Dance Theater Workshop for Movement Research’s About Town Series, Joyce SoHo for DanceNow Festival, Danspace at St. Mark’s Church for Food for Thought, Hothouse at PS122, dumbo Dance Festival, Cool New York Dance Festival, WAX, TIXE, HATCH, SWEAT at the DeBaun Auditorium, John Houseman Theater on Broadway, and The Culture Project. She most recently presented her first full evening show at South Street Seaport Cultural Association Performance Space. Most recently Stephanie has been creating short dance videos with Flexicurve.
