American Composers Orchestra has awarded nearly 350 commissions to the composers listed below. Since the Orchestra’s founding, it has awarded more commissions to American composers than any other orchestra in the world. Two of the ACO-commissioned works have won the Pulitzer Prize and many others have been recorded and performed frequently by orchestras throughout the United States.
For many talented emerging composers, an ACO commission represents their first professional opportunity to write a new work for symphony orchestra. ACO commissions are often a catalyst for future performances by other orchestras around the country.
