ACO just launched its first crowd-funding campaign on Kickstarter!
American Composers Orchestra (ACO) will present coLABoratory from fall of 2015 through spring 2017. This initiative will develop and premiere five to six cutting-edge new pieces of orchestra music, via an extended series of Research and Development Lab Workshops. The project identifies new composers and new ideas from around the country, through a competitive submission process, then provides a reiterative cycle of prototyping, rehearsal, feedback, revision, and experimentation, creating a new collaborative paradigm for the creation of orchestra music. The project will yield new works which employ new digital technologies, multimedia, electronics, robotics, and/or experimental new instruments, integrating these into the symphony orchestra, while providing education and interaction with the public throughout the creative process. When each new work is deemed performance ready, it will be premiered at Carnegie Hall or another prominent NYC concert venue.
